1. Acceptance

By accessing firsttakeguide.com you agree to these Terms and Conditions and to our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, which form part of them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We may update these terms; the “last updated” date above shows when they last changed, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised version.

2. Who we are

3. What the site provides

We publish written articles and illustrations on making short video projects. We do not sell equipment, courses, memberships or production services through this site, we do not take payments, and we operate no user accounts. The only data you can submit is an email address for the newsletter, or a message sent to one of our published addresses.

4. Acceptable use

You may read, print and share our pages for personal, educational or newsroom use. You may not:

• republish substantial parts of our text or graphics commercially without written permission;
• scrape, mirror or bulk-download the site, or use it to train a commercial model, without written permission;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, its host or its infrastructure;
• interfere with the site’s operation, including through automated request floods;
• use the site for anything unlawful, or to harass, defraud or impersonate anyone;
• remove or obscure any copyright, credit or licensing notice.

Short quotations with a visible link back are welcome and do not require permission.

5. Intellectual property

Article text, layouts, diagrams and the design system of this site are owned by the publisher or used under licence. Photographs are licensed from Pexels under the Pexels Licence, which permits commercial use without attribution; we nevertheless record the source of each photograph in the page source. Icon paths are used from open-source icon sets under their respective permissive licences. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only for identification.

6. Newsletter

Subscribing is optional and free. We send occasional notices of new articles. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address from our sending list. We do not pass subscriber addresses to third parties for their own marketing.

7. Third-party links and services

Some pages link to external sites, and the site loads web fonts from a third-party font service. We do not control those destinations, we are not responsible for their content or practices, and a link is not an endorsement. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you visit them.

8. No professional advice

Our content is general information about creative and technical practice. It is not personalised technical advice, and it is not legal, safety, insurance or financial advice. Permits, releases, location access, music licensing and workplace safety obligations vary by jurisdiction and by venue. 9. No warranties

The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the content is complete or current.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, neither the publisher nor its contributors will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of footage, data, time, opportunity or profit, arising out of your use of or inability to use this site or any content on it. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the minimum permitted by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this clause may not apply to you.

You agree to indemnify the publisher against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your misuse of the site or your breach of these terms.

12. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend, revise or withdraw any part of the site at any time, including individual articles. We aim to keep published URLs stable and to note substantial revisions on the page itself.

13. Copyright complaints

If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, write to hello@firsttakeguide.com with the work concerned, the URL of the material, your contact details, and a statement of your good-faith belief that the use is unauthorised. We investigate promptly and remove material where a complaint is valid.

14. Governing law and severability

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and the applicable federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, and the courts of that state have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules in your own country give you rights you cannot be deprived of. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in force.
